Lou is a Northwest Ohio native having grown up in the rural world of cornfields and lime plants in western Ottawa county. His passion for history and his professional experience as a broadcast journalist for five decades have inspired him to read more old newspapers than new ones, researching and chronicling the colorful events and characters that populate the forgotten past of the old Black Swamp. Lou’s vigor for finding and telling stories has taken him to many corners of the country over the decades working in an atlas of cities and states. Lou is an avid reader and loves the beauty and treasure of nature writing music and when he has free time playing golf as badly as he plays the guitar. He has 5 sons and a very understanding and tolerant wife.
